Locals Ready For The Summer

The Moose Jaw Miller Express has announced the return of local players Terry McNabb, Ben Douglas, Brennan Reidy, Zach Shelstad, Tanner Spencer, and Bryce Crosbie for the 2014 Western Major Baseball League Season.

“The organization is proud to announce that the 2014 Millers will feature an increase of players that have played their Midget baseball in Moose Jaw with either the Cardinals or the Devons respectively. It’s a great opportunity for the locals to showcase themselves for the hometown fans after being away from home all year playing out their college seasons and pursuing academic degrees,” commented Millers Coach Michael Hunt.

“We are very lucky to have such a talented group of players that have grown up in the Friendly City and developed their skills while playing here,” added Hunt. “It’s not only special to have this many locals wear the uniform, but that those players will have pivotal roles which means great things for the city of Moose Jaw.

”Ben Douglas is one of three players from Moose Jaw who will suit up for the Millers this season. Douglas is currently playing with McMurry University War Hawks, after 32 games this season he had a .288 batting average, and leads the team with 13 doubles. Douglas last played for the Millers in 2011 where he had two doubles, three homeruns, and 12 RBI’s in 24 games.

Davidson’s Terry McNabb will return to the Millers after he completes his senior year with North Carolina Central University. As of April 10th McNabb had started eight games for the Eagles, posting a 2-4 record with a 3.70ERA. He leads the team in innings pitched (48.2) and strikeouts (44), he also has allowed the second fewest walks (9). McNabb last played for the Millers in 2012, he started nine games and led Moose Jaw with four complete games, 67.2 innings pitched, and 52 strikeouts.

Brennan Reidy is returning for his second full season with his hometown team. The Moose Jaw product is currently playing for the Okanagan College Coyotes, after nine games he has one homerun and two RBI’s. Last season with the Millers he hit .263 in 24 games with two doubles and three RBI’s.

Craik’s Tanner Spencer returns to the Millers lineup after missing all of last summer due to injury. Spencer is currently playing with the Colby Community College Trojans. As of April 10th he has started seven games, posting a 2-3 record and has 13 strikeouts in 28 innings.

Coronach’s Zach Shelstad is coming back to the Friendly City for his second season with the Millers. Shelstad is currently playing with the Miles Community College Pioneers, in his rookie season with the Millers last season he appeared in 13 games and pitched 15.1 innings where he struck out 10 and walked five.

Bryce Crosbie is currently playing with the Mayville State Comets and will be coming home to Moose Jaw this summer for his rookie season with the Millers. Last year Crosbie played with the Midget AAA Devons, he led the team in batting average (.314), doubles (7), and RBI’s (20).
