Millers Add Three Imports

The Moose Jaw Miller Express have announced the commitments of imports Danny Lokesak (OF), Dylan Hanson (1B/C), and Derek Cornell (2B) for the 2014 Western Major Baseball League season.

Danny Lokesak, 6’0 190lbs, is from Florence, Kentucky and is currently a teammate of Miller Hank Stewart at Brescia University. As of May 5, he is second at Brescia in batting with a .362 average (trailing only Stewart), he has nine doubles, three triples, one homerun, and 23 RBI’s. Lokesak also has a .459 slugging percentage, .441 on-base percentage, and is 25-for-31 in stolen base attempts.

“Danny is an aggressive base runner, he hits to the gaps, and can track a lot of balls down in the outfield,” said Millers Coach Michael Hunt. “His skills will nicely compliment the rest of our outfield, and he’ll fit in nicely to our lineup."

Dylan Hanson, 6’0 210lbs, is from Olathe, Kansas and is one of two players for the Miller Express who are currently playing with the University of Central Missouri Mules. As of May 5, Hanson was hitting .299 in 33 games. He has three doubles, eight RBI’s, .419 on-base percentage, a .972 fielding percentage, and is 10-for-16 in stolen base attempts.

“Dylan is another quality player to come to us from Division 2 powerhouse Central Missouri University,” said Hunt. “The dual threat sophomore is currently splitting time at first base and behind the plate. He brings raw power and versatility to the middle of our lineup.”

Derek Cornell, 5’10 185lbs, is from Ballwin, Missouri and currently plays with the University of Central Missouri Mules. Cornell is currently a redshirt-sophomore, last season as a redshirt-freshman he hit .300.

“Derek is a speedy slick fielding second baseman,” Hunt said. “He’ll provide solid defense on the right side of the infield, he features a nice gap-to-gap swing and will create havoc on the bases.”

Lokesak, Hanson, and Cornell are expected to be with the Miller Express when they open the 2014 WMBL season Friday, May 30th at Ross Wells Park against the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets. Season tickets are available by calling 691-1402.
