The Moose Jaw Miller Express’ 2014 roster continues to take shape, today they have announced the commitments of freshman imports Aiden Stinnett (1B/3B) and Andrew Solomon (C/OF) who are teammates at the University of San Diego.

Stinnett, 6’5 195lbs, is from Vista, California, before playing for the Toreros he was a high school first-team All-Avocado League selection and Offensive Player of the Year.

“Aiden is coming to Moose Jaw from a great program in the University of San Diego, which produced the second overall pick in the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft,” said Millers Coach Michael Hunt. “He’s a big developing player with power who will provide a lot of offence in the middle of our order, and has the ability to anchor either corner defensively.”

Solomon, 6’1 200lbs, is from Carlsbad, California, before attending university he hit .300 as a senior in high school last year. Two years ago he hit .395 as a junior and was named the Offensive Player of the Year en route to leading his team to the CIF Championship, San Diego section.

“Andrew is a switch hitter who will split time behind the plate with Hank Stewart,” said Hunt. “He’s a quality catcher and is going to play a big role defensively, especially when it comes to controlling the oppositions running game. He’s a gap-to-gap hitter, we’re expecting him to provide a threat from both sides of the plate.”

Stinnett and Solomon are expected to be with the Miller Express when they open the 2014 WMBL season Friday, May 30th at Ross Wells Park against the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets. Season tickets are available by calling 691-1402.
