Veterans Returning To Moose Jaw


The Moose Jaw Miller Express are excited to announce that veteran imports Derek Cornell, Brandon Acosta, and Paul McMahon will be returning to the Friendly City for the 2015 Western Major Baseball League season.


Cornell (2B), 5’10 185lbs, is currently playing at Central Missouri, in 43 games he has six doubles, one triple, two home runs, 32 RBI’s, a .297 batting average, and 15 stolen bases. Last season with the Millers, Cornell played in 44 games and had 10 doubles, two triples, two homeruns, 18 RBI’s, a .298 batting average, and led the team with 20 stolen bases.


Acosta (RHP), 5’11 195lbs, is currently playing at Fresno City Community College, in eight appearances and 13 1/3 innings pitched he has a 1-0 record, five strikeouts, four walks, and a 0.67ERA. Last season with the Millers, Acosta appeared in 12 games, making nine starts and finished with a 5-3 record. He led the team with two complete games, and was second in innings pitched (68) and strikeouts (54).


McMahon (RHP), 6’6 225lbs, is a teammate of Cornell at Central Missouri, in seven appearances and 9 1/3 innings pitched he has posted a 1-1 record, five strikeouts, six walks, and a 4.82ERA. McMahon last played for the Millers in 2013 when he was tied for second on the team in appearences with 13. In 20 2/3 innings he posted a 2-2 record with two saves, he had 20 strikeouts, five walks, and finished with a 3.04ERA.


Cornell, Acosta, and McMahon are all expected to be with the Miller Express when they open the 2015 WMBL regular season May 29 in Swift Current. Moose Jaw’s home opener is Sunday, May 31 against Regina at 7pm. For season ticket information call 306.691.1402.
