More Arms Added
The Moose Jaw Miller Express have announced that pitchers Phoenix Cox, J.J. Santa Cruz, Tyler Franek, and Mitch Gullikson will be spending their summer’s in the Friendly City.
Cox (RHP), 5’10 185lbs, is from Cicero, Indiana and played this season at Brescia University. On the mound fro the Bearcats, Cox appeared in seven games this season, in 6 2/3 innings he had six strikeouts, six walks, and posted a record of 1-0 with an ERA of 16.20.
“Phoenix will be an important part of our bullpen,” said Millers Head Coach Michael Hunt. “He’s a strike thrower and has a high compete level.”
Santa Cruz (LHP), 6’6 210lbs, is from Libert, California and played this season at Fresno City College along side Millers veteran Brandon Acosta. Cruz appeared in four games, in 11 innings he had 12 strikeous, six walks, a 1-1 record, one save, and a 0.00ERA.
“J.J. will be looked upon to be a stopper in the rotation and a guy the fans will enjoy,” Hunt said. “The tall, lanky, lefty fills a gap the rotation has been missing.”
Franek (RHP), 6’4 180lbs, is from Grand Lake, Colorado and spent this season at Garden Ciy Community College. He appeared in 13 games and pitched in 39 2/3 innings, he had 34 strikeouts, 18 walks, a 2-2 record (with one complete game), and a 5.90ERA.
“Tyler is a starter at Garden City and we expect him to fit in well and compliment the rest of our rotation,” said Hunt. “He’s a bulldog hat has the ability to dominate games.”
Gullikson (RHP), 6’2 160lbs, is from Yankton, South Dakoa and played this season at Wayne State. “Mitch is a hard throwing freshman that has a high ceiling as a starter,” said Hunt. “However, he will join our staff in the bullpen this summer to maximize appearences.”
The Moose Jaw Miller Express open the 2015 WMBL regular season with games in Swift Current Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30. The Millers home opener is Sunday, May 31, 7pm against the Regina Red Sox. For tickets contact Darryl, 306.691.1402.
