Millers Pick Up First Win


The Moose Jaw Miller Express erased a two-run deficit in the sixth inning by scoring three runs, they went on to a 5-2 win over the Indians Saturday in Swift Current.

Saskatoon product Kyle Sonntag was solid on the mound in his Miller debut going seven innings, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out four and not walking a batter. WMBL rookie

Dolan Kunkel, who also hails from Saskatoon, made his debut in the eighth inning, he didn’t give up a hit and struck out one batter. Tanner McAninch struck out two in the ninth to pick up the save.

At the plate, newcomers Ty Russell and Chris Saurez where both 2-for-3 with a runs scored. Moose Jaw had ten hits in total, Marvin Malone and Ryan Thrasher were both 1-for-4 at the plate.

Opening Weekend continues Sunday for the Millers with their home opener against the Regina Red Sox, first pitch is at 7pm at Ross Wells Park.
