Tuesday was a pretty special day for Ben Douglas as in addition to scoring the winning run for the Miller Express, the Moose Jaw native was also named a NCAA Division III Academic All-American.
“It was a great honour getting that award, I didn't even know until today, so it was exciting,” he said. “My mom text me and said to go on the school's website. It was a great feeling having that.”
Douglas graduate from McMurray University in Abilene, Texas with a grade point average of 3.83 as he completed his accounting major. He said it was great to see the hard work pay off.
“It definitely makes you feel good about all the hard work that I put in all semester in the classroom,” he said.
While excelling in the classroom, Douglas also found a balance on the field where he finished with a .366 batting average, five home runs, 15 doubles, a triple and 33 runs batted in.
