Winning Streak Snapped

The Moose Jaw Miller Express made good contact throughout the night, but couldn’t get the hits they needed to fall in.

The Express’ three-game winning streak ended with an 8-3 loss to the Edmonton Prospects on Sunday night at Ross Wells Park, giving them a split of their two-game weekend series.

A three-run third inning gave Moose Jaw an early 3-1 lead, but the bats went cold after that as they collected just four hits over the next six innings.

JJ Santa Cruz took the loss, giving up four runs — two earned — on four hits over six innings. He finished with seven strikeouts and four walks.

Moose Jaw struck out just once in the loss, but Kyle Garvin was able to keep the ball on the ground as he surrendered three runs on ten hits over eight innings in the win.

The Millers are now 10-and-13 on the year. They return to the field on Tuesday when they open a two-game series in Okotoks against the Dawgs.
