Millers Fall In Regina

(Story courtesy Marc Smith, DiscoverMooseJaw.com) For the fifth straight game, the Moose Jaw Miller Express came out on the losing end, falling 9-2 to the Regina Red Sox in the Queen City on Tuesday night.

Regina scored three runs in the first inning and the Millers’ offence could keep up after that, managing just two runs in the fourth inning.

With Moose Jaw trailing 4-0 heading into the fourth, Lance VanNoy started things off with a lead-off single. He eventually came around to score on an RBI-double by Cole Distler, while the other run came off a sac-fly by Jeremy Stidham.

Regina answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to go back up by four. They tacked on three more in the fifth and cruised the rest of the way to the win.

Jesse Marks took the loss on the mound for Moose Jaw, allowing seven runs on 11 hits over four innings. He struck out two and walked none.

Regan Cole took over in the fifth and allowed two runs — one earned — on four hits. He went 3 2/3 innings before giving way to Keegan Kwong in the eighth inning.

Regina’s starter Adam Prashad gave up just two runs over eight innings. The Millers tagged him with six hits and one walk, but he struck out five in the win.

The loss drops Moose Jaw’s record to 4-15 on the year. They’ll try to end their losing skid on Thursday when they head to Yorkton to face the Cardinals.

The next home action for the Millers is on Friday when they welcome in Melville to Ross Wells Park for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. They will also host Weyburn on Sunday night.
