Millers Add Pitchers

The Moose Jaw Miller Express have added pitchers Galen Andrews, Hunter Kloke, Mitchell Price, Zach McDonald, Tanner Emes, and DJ Martinez for the upcoming 2017 Western Major Baseball League season.

Andrews, RHP, 5’10” 185lbs, is from Houston, Texas and played this season at Lamar University. He appeared in 17 games this spring and posted a 3-0 record, in 27.1 innings he had 19 strikeouts, 10 walks and a 3.95ERA.

“Galen brings a solid resume. He will serve as a spot starter and fill in the gaps along the way,” said Millers Head Coach Michael Hunt. “He has a crafty arsenal and important experience that will serve well for the grueling, compact WMBL schedule.”

McDonald, RHP, 6’2” 160lbs, is from Louisville, Kentucky and attended Brescia University. Zach appeared in 15 games this season which includes four starts and posted a 2-6 record, in 34.1 innings he had 17 strikeouts, 16 walks, 4.46ERA, and had one complete game.

Kloke, LHP, 5’11” 170lbs, is from Henderson, Kentucky and spent this season at Brescia University. Hunter appeared in ten games (all of them starts) and posted a 2-7 record, in 56.2 innings he had 42 strikeouts, 25 walks, a 5.08ERA, and three complete games.

“Both freshman starters at Brescia University. The pair saw the bulk of the starts for their program and that experience bodes well for the tandem to help carry along our pitching staff,” said Hunt. “Hunter and Zach are both control pitchers who look to utilize the defenses behind them but carry enough arm to put guys away when needed.”

Price, RHP, 6’10” 200lbs, is from Mitchell, South Dakota and played this season at Indian Hills Community College. He appeared in 4 games this season, in 1.1 inning he had nine strikeouts and six walks. “Mitch is a big, imposing righty where the sky is the limit. He's a power arm and will be coming out of the bullpen to put out fires and bridge the gap to the closers,” said Hunt.

Emes, RHP, 6’1” 170lbs, is from Oakdale, California and Martinez, RHP, 6’0” 180lbs, is from Fresno, California and both attended Fresno City College. Emes appeared in ten games and posted a 1-2 record with two saves, in 14 innings he had 12 strikeouts, eight walks, and a 7.07ERA. Martinez appeared in ten games and had a 1-0 record, in13.2 innings he had 15 strikeouts, four walks, and a 4.61ERA.

“The right handed duo were regulars out of the pen for the Rams. They have the ability to pitch long relief, short relief, and close if needed. They will be valuable pieces to the bullpen to say the least,” said Hunt.

The Millers open the 2017 WMBL season Thursday, June 1 in Swift Current, their home opener will be Friday, June 2 against Weyburn at Ross Wells Park.
