The local Western Major Baseball League team remained hot on Thursday night as they went into Melville and knocked off the Millionaires, 4-0, for their sixth win in the last seven games.

Mitchell Robinson spun a gem for the Millers in the win, striking out eight with no walks over seven innings of one-hit ball.

Tanner Emes and Wednesday night’s starter Zach McDonald pitched an inning each to close out the shutout win for the Millers.

Moose Jaw did most of their damage in the fourth and fifth innings, scoring one in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. They sealed the win with another run in the eighth.

Ben Dalke went 2-for-4 with a double, one run and one RBI in the win, pushing his average to .425 on the year. He has a WMBL-leading 18 RBI.

Pate Katechis finished with two hits and an RBI for the Millers as well, while Adam Cook drove in one run, scored once and walked twice in the win.

The Millionaires’ lone hit came off the bat of Vinny Martin. All but two of the Melville hitters struck out in the game.

The Millers have won five straight to improve to 7-5 on the year, which has them 1.5 games back of the Regina Red Sox for first place in the Eastern Division.

Moose Jaw returns to the field on Friday night at Ross Wells Park against the Brooks Bombers. First pitch is at 7 p.m.

Brooks is coming off a pair of wins on Thursday in Weyburn, sweeping their doubleheader with a 5-4 win in the first game and a 4-3 win in the second game.

The Millers beat the Bombers, 5-4, on Tuesday.
