The Moose Jaw Miller Express split their doubleheader in Weyburn Sunday, losing 6-0 in the first game and trouncing them 12-5 in the second.

The Millers put up eight runs by the top of the third inning and were in cruise control the rest of the way. All nine players on the roster for the Milers got a hit scored at least a run.

The team pounded out 14 hits on a hot Sunday afternoon in Western Canadian Baseball League action, and the team waited patiently for eight walks in the seven-inning game.

The final game Sunday snapped a mini two game slump the Millers had. They beat Yorkton in both ends of a Friday doubleheader 8-4 and 4-3, before dropping a 3-1 game in Yorkton Saturday.

In the 6-0 shutout earlier Sunday, they were able to get nine hits against Weyburn but couldn’t get any runs. Pitchers issued seven walks and two wild pitches in the game.

The Millers are now 20-16, only a game behind the Swift Current 57s for third place in the division.

The Millers have the day off today before taking on the Lethbridge Bulls at Ross Wells Park tomorrow night in the first game of a three game series. Lethbridge is part of a four team glut in the middle of the Western Division standings with the second place to fifth place teams only one game apart.

The Millers will have to account for Lethbridge slugger Kaleb Warden, who leads the league with 53 RBI already this season, compared to Michael Borst’s 27 that leads the Millers.

Yesterday, Edmonton beat Melville 10-2, the Red Sox stopped the Cardinals 17-1, Lethbridge won 7-5 to Swift Current, Fort McMurray edged Okotoks 6-5, and Medicine Hat beat Brooks 7-1.
